Marna van Zyl visited 8 schools in the Postmasburg region in May to introduce the kids to our programme. She explained the scientific method and illustrated the application with two simple experiment: growing a bean and "elephant toothpaste". She will go back to them in August to identify those who show potential and then mentor them to participate in science fairs in about 2 years' time. By that time, a love for scientific inquiry and STEMI would have been established and we can take these kids into weekly workshops to enable them to become the engineers and scientists of the future!
