Earlier this month learners from 62 countries competed at the Genius - International High School Environmental Project Olympiad competition in the US. Amongst these learners were 3 South Africans from Imbewu Science Foundation who competed in the North Gauteng Science Fair. Their hard work and persistence paid off. Christiaan Baumann, from Waterkloof High School, received an Honourable Mention for his project “Cave Exploration Robot from Repurposed Materials”. Edrich Engelbrecht, also from Waterkloof High School, won a silver medal with his project “Enhanced mobility for the visually impaired - a mechatronic solution”. Kyla Cronje, from Gars-fontein High School, also won a silver medal with her project “Affordable adaptive seating device for children with cerebral palsy”.
